Return to “What is ObliNet?”

21. Mutual understanding does not require thinking alike

ObliNet does not require people to agree on everything.

It helps them determine precisely where they agree, where they differ and what they need to align in order to act together.

People do not have to think alike to act successfully together. They need a clear understanding of what they have agreed.

22. Mutual understanding is a continuous process

Mutual understanding is a continuous process accompanying joint activity, rather than a one-off achievement.

AI helps participants address disagreements that have already been identified and discover issues they have not yet recognised as requiring agreement.

The aim is to achieve the necessary and sufficient completeness of mutual understanding at each stage without spending time on insignificant details.

23. Participants retain autonomy

AI helps identify issues, suggest clarifications and find possible solutions.

However, final agreement remains with the participants.

They decide for themselves which proposals to accept, which conditions to agree on and which commitments to undertake.

24. Mutual understanding is connected to activity

Agreements are not an end in themselves.

They are needed so that participants can act in alignment.

As activity changes, the issues requiring agreement change, and so does the degree of completeness needed for mutual understanding.
